Effects of Fly Ash Dosage on Shrinkage, Crack Resistance and Fractal Characteristics of Face Slab Concrete

The crack resistance of face slab concretes to various shrinkages is crucial for the structural integrity and normal operation concrete-faced rockfill dams (CFRDs). In this work, effects fly ash with four dosages (i.e., 10%, 20%, 30% 40%) on drying shrinkage, autogenous shrinkage cracking concrete were studied. Besides, difference in behavior due addition was revealed from viewpoint pore structure fractal dimension surface (Ds). findings demonstrate that (1) incorporation 10–40% could slightly reduce by about 2.2–13.5% before 14 days hydration, it at 180 5.1–23.2%. By contrast, markedly early, middle long-term ages. (2) Increasing dosage 0 40% considerably improves plastic shrinkage. Nevertheless, increase increases drying-induced risk under restrained conditions. (3) structures 3 28 become coarser up 40%.
